Becoming a True Servant

From Covenant Identity to Christlike Living

“He that is greatest among you shall be your servant.”

Matthew 23:11

Our first retreat, Discovering Your Covenant Identity in Christ, asked: Who am I in Christ? This gathering asks the question that follows it: Am I becoming like Him?

Being a true servant is not about titles, positions, recognition, or even how much we accomplish. It is about becoming someone through whom Christ can work.

We say becoming, not being. Servanthood is a transformation, something we grow into through our choices and our works.

“If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.”

Mark 9:35

About this gathering

This October we are inviting men to Bear Lake for a weekend focused on purification, sanctification, priesthood power, and becoming true servants of the Lord together. This is not just another retreat. It is a gathering for men centered on the refining of the sons of Levi — men doing the deeper work side by side.

This is our second Sons of Levi gathering. Last time we gave every man a key. This time we're teaching them how to use it. We'll go deep into the scriptures on priesthood power: how to give a healing blessing and administer ordinances the right way, how to receive the Holy Ghost in power, and how to preside at home as a righteous husband and father. A big piece is learning to teach by the Spirit, so you know what to say in the moment instead of leaning on a program or a memorized lesson. We eat together, study together, and finish with worship and a sacrament meeting on Sunday. The whole point is to send men home ready to serve: in their homes, in their wards, and wherever the Lord needs laborers.

We will dive deep into the baptism of the Holy Ghost, exercising power in the priesthood, healing blessings and proper priesthood administration, sanctification as priesthood holders, the return of priesthood power, and the priesthood spoken of in Doctrine and Covenants 124 and how it has been restored.

Come on your own, with a friend or brother, or as a father and son. Men who are single or have no sons are fully welcome. There is no age restriction. If you desire to draw closer to the Lord, learn how to access priesthood power, become sanctified as a servant, or understand healing and blessings, this gathering is for you.

Arriving: Check-in is Thursday evening between 5 and 6 PM. The house address is shared with registered families before the gathering.

In every swag bag

The Book of Melchisedec

Every man at Bear Lake takes home a hand-bound copy of The Book of Melchisedec: both books of the Salem Record, the priest-king of Salem who brought forth bread and wine and blessed Abram.

Hard black covers with the gold Seal of Melchizedek, a gold wire binding, and a wide ruled margin on every page for your own notes. We open it together on Thursday night.

Questions

Before you book.

A few of the questions we are asked most.

When and how do I pay?

Registering and paying are one motion. The form hands you straight to the checkout page when you finish, and a confirmation email with the same payment link follows in case something interrupts you. Your place is held while you pay and confirmed once the payment is in; each gathering's page says how long the hold lasts.

Can I register my family or a friend?

It depends on the bed. Most beds are one person, one registration: each person fills the form with their own name and email and pays for their own bed, which is also how each of them gets their own confirmation and their own place on the rooming list. A suite is the exception — one registration and one payment covers everyone sharing it, and you add each person by name on the form. Either way, tell us at registration who you would like to be near and we will do what we can.

What if my plans change?

Open your registration with the same email and update it any time before the gathering. If you cannot come, email april@zionstreaming.com. Ask within 30 days of the day you paid and at least seven full days before the gathering begins, and you are refunded in full. After that a refund is at our discretion, and you can always transfer your place at no charge. Full policy: theziongathering.com/refunds.

Where will I sleep?

Gatherings are in large private homes, and we cannot guarantee specific spots. Beds are first come, first served. We do our best to accommodate anyone who needs a ground-floor room or a bottom bunk, where possible.

What should I bring?

Bedding and towels are provided. Bring a pillow from home, your scriptures, comfortable clothes for the outdoors, and anything you need for the night.
